- Elon Musk gave his assistant a 2-week test when she asked for a big raise — what happened to her is an important career lesson It’s like I would end ALL my cover letters for jobs: “….. will indeed be assets and valuable contributions to the continued success of the company/organization“–because you HAVE to be…I always say this and I’ll say it again ….and again: “My worth” is sooo 2017 (that we too often throw out there without assessment OR appraising to whom we WANT to be concerned, or our ‘competition’). But in ANY relationship, be business or interpersonal or personal/intimate, our “worth” is only as valuable to the beholder who finds value in our worth. By default, for your own self-esteem, you should always discover and know your worth-generally speaking. By demand: you should know how and who to ration your worth to whom the VALUE of your worth is in short supply i.e. create a need that will yield a return to you now or later. I can’t bring a million oranges to an apple dealer. He doesn’t care. A tough life lesson that we all must face but more importantly-apply to every area of life (including your love life). Relationship or job-I’ve ALWAYS looked for other options. It’s naturally how I am. I’m VERY low key and subtle yet demonstrative of remaining open for other/better options. Your job (on a job-especially where you are an assistant/secretary and have an individual vs. team function-like/as with a relationship) is to do and BE such that any options for your replacement is obsolete. That should ALWAYS be on your mind when entering somebody’s life or working closely with or for them. If this is jarring news to you, chances are, you are already replaceable in your job, relationship/friendship as soon as tomorrow. Don’t get it twisted: Be smart enough to bow out gracefully of (or not even step TO) someone else’s life or business that by which you know YOU will not be a ‘asset or valuable contribution.’ Male or female. It will save you a whole lot of hurt and trouble, keep your self esteem healthy and ability to maintain your self-respect. If you are not making MONEY or MEMORIES with or for people-move out the way.

*The key is quality of life or love. With you being in someone’s life: how are you instrumental in improving their quality of life or business? And why would they miss you when you are gone? If you can answer that, and repeatedly play that role-you’re MUCH harder to fire (in love or business).
**I have to quit writing and give you examples in the podcast. I’m quite busy since subscription switch but have been able to work OSFMag things in since, too. My podcasts will be another + in ToriSpilling’s newfound freedom since the subscript switch.
Yep. Another #angfrankpodcast on the whiteboard list of things to do/elaborate on (but this one should get you started until this next one) . Off-topic anywho: It’s so trite (to say) “great minds think alike” but it aint half bad to learn you and Elon Musk are both born on June 28th–and at least have THIS one thing in common 🙂
